Helping Tweens & Teens Develop Their Strengths and Build Confidence
Growing Through the In-Between Years
The tween and teen years are full of change. Kids at this stage are becoming more aware of themselves, their relationships, and the world around them, while also navigating growing independence, stronger emotions, academic pressure, social stress, and questions about identity and belonging. What shows up on the outside as irritability, withdrawal, low motivation, or acting out often has something deeper underneath it—like anxiety, overwhelm, self-doubt, grief, or feeling stuck.
In my work with tweens and teens, I focus first on building trust and helping them feel safe enough to open up. From there, I use a blend of conversation, creativity, and practical tools to help them better understand themselves, manage emotions, build confidence, and move through this season with more resilience and support.
What We Might Be Working Through
Every tween and teen is different, but some common concerns I support include:
Anxiety, overthinking, and constant worry
Depression, irritability, or withdrawal
Low self-esteem and self-doubt
Friendship struggles and social stress
Family conflict or communication challenges
Poor academic performance
Adjustment to life transitions
ADHD and attention difficulties
Grief
Self-harm / Suicidal thoughts
Anger problems and mood swings
Trauma and loss
A Note for Parents
It’s completely normal for tweens and teens to start pulling away—it’s part of how they grow.
At the same time, they still need you… just in a different way.
I work to build a strong, trusting relationship with your child, while also keeping you meaningfully involved. We’ll start with a parent intake, and throughout the process, I’ll offer guidance, insight, and practical ways you can support your child at home—without disrupting the trust we’re building in the therapy space.
The Goal
Not to “fix” your child—but to help them feel more like themselves again.
More confident.
More capable.
More connected.
